Applications to connect and use for Twitter are becoming almost as numerous as applications for the IPhone. If you plan on using Twitter seriously, the apps below are ones that can make the experience easier, more efficient and fun. These are all applications I have used and found to be helpful in one way or another. I’m sure there are lots more but these will get you started using Twitter more efficiently.
Here’s a video message that should be part of driver’s training classes across the country. The old drinking and driving horror films we saw in Driver’s Ed don’t hold a candle to this one and it communicates so much more effectively than some lame lecture. As schools start this fall and another whole group of digitally active students learn how to drive, please pass on this extremely effective media message.
What does good teaching and learning look like? In my job I get to spend a good deal of time in buildings and classrooms ranging from preschool through 12th grade and it is always interesting to see what is going on. When real learning and teaching are going on it is easy to spot because both students and teacher are engaged in the learning process. The pictures below are not from a building classroom but they capture the essence and spirit of students and teachers who have the love for learning and sense of wonder and awe they bring with them. It really doesn’t matter what subject or level you teach, these pictures say it all.
“A short video summarizing some of the most important characteristics of students today – how they learn, what they need to learn, their goals, hopes, dreams, what their lives will be like, and what kinds of changes they will experience in their lifetime.” – Created by Michael Wesch in collaboration with 200 students at Kansas State University.
